Apple bans iphone app: educational game about the dark side of the iphone

Phone Story is (or was) an iphone app which walks the player through the social costs to the production of the iphone, namely bad labor practices, unsafe working conditions and environmental damage.

The app store pulled the app due to “violations.” In an interview, the developer of the game stated:

“A lot of tech-aware people heard about the story of the Foxconn suicides or about the issue of electronic waste,” he continues. ” But with Phone Story, we wanted to connect all these aspects and present them in the larger frame of technological consumerism.”
